Aikawa is located in the central northern part of Kanagawa Prefecture. Despite the fact that it is only 50km from the heart of Tokyo (about 1 hour away on the Ken-O Expressway), it is a verdant town that is in tune with nature, as it has a range of mountains representing the eastern edge of the Tanzawa Mountains, with Mount Bukkasan having the highest peak, and both the Sagami River and Nakatsu River flowing through it. It also has the Miyagase Dam, which is among the largest in the greater Tokyo region, where you can enjoy the dynamic scenes of an artificial waterfall during their regularly-scheduled discharges for tourists.
