Town of Hanawa once prospered as a territory controlled by the shogunate in the Edo period. The town enjoys a relatively warm climate, and Yujimata Hot Spring, known for its curing power, continues to heal people for generations. In spring, gorgeous cherry blossoms bloom along the Kuji River; from late April, azaleas turn Mt. Furoyama red; and from summer to fall, dahlias bloom throughout the town, especially in the Dahlia Park. At Hanawa Roadside Station, a rich lineup of vegetables is delivered directly from farmers with the aim of promoting local production and consumption.
